Claim CD302:
Evaporite deposits are far too thick to have been formed from the evaporation of ancient seas.Source:
Morris, Henry M., 1974. Scientific Creationism, Green Forest, AR: Master
Books, p. 106.
Response:
- This is only a problem for creationists who cannot imagine long time spans. Thick deposits with numerous beds are consistent with cyclical sea transgression/regressions (Burke n.d.). They can also form in sinking basins that have had no outlet over geological time.
